Shai Ling

Name: Shai Ling
Age: 16
Nation: Fire nation.
Powers: Fire bender.

Description: Shai was born in the Sun Warriors, the original fire benders. She was born with a spirit, a dragon, inside of her. The dragon had kept her alive, but at a price. She would lose control of her human side, and the dragon would take control of her. She was put into a secret chamber (the one that held the golden egg that Zuko and Aang had discovered by accident), and the only company she ever had was one person who would come every solstice. When she was very young, she had killed her brother. When she was 9, she had escaped. She decided to go to the fire nation, and try to find a master to teach her how to control her dragon side. When she had finally arrived in the fire nation, she "borrowed" some clothes. She was in a market when her stomach started to growl. She found a food stand and stole an apple. Some guards found her and chased her. They had chased her all the way to the Fire Nation palace. She had jumped over one of the palace walls, unbeknownst to her that Zuko was in the garden. There, she met Zuko. She had pleaded with him to keep her hidden. Zuko agreed and kept her hidden. She had stayed there for about two months before a guard had almost caught her. She told Zuko she had to leave, though they both were very distraught by this news. They had become such good friends, that neither of them wanted Shai to leave. She left, knowing full well that she couldn't stay in the Fire Nation. 

Shai knew that the only place the fire nation wouldn't go was the water tribes. She set out for the southern water tribe, when she met Jeong Jeong. He taught her many things about fire bending and how to control her dragon. After about two years, she set off once again to the southern water tribe. On her way, she had sewn together different pieces of blue clothing to create her water tribe outfit. Once she arrived at the south pole, she met Katara and Sokka. They became fast friends. Five years later, after they discovered Aang, Zuko had arrived. Shai didn't recognize him at first, but once she heard his voice, she knew it was Zuko. She felt pity upon him, knowing that the teenage boy she sees in front of her was once her joyful friend.

After the gang had met Toph, and they had traveled to Ba Sing Se, she once again saw Zuko. She had seen him in the Jazmine Dragon. They had made a meeting place at a fountain later that night to talk. They talked for awhile, explaining what had happened to each other for the years that they were separate. Shai felt more pity for Zuko once he explained what had happened to his face. There, Jet confronted both of them, trying to prove that Zuko was from the Fire Nation. Shai had gotten pissed and fought Jet with one of the swords he had thrown at her. She threatened Jet, and warned him to never fight her or Zuko, or she would kill him. 

After so much the gang had gone through, they traveled to the Eastern Air Temple. When Zuko had tried to ask for their forgiveness, Shai knew that he was trustworthy. She immediately ran towards him and hugged onto him, tightly. When the gang let Zuko in, Shai tried to stay close to him. After Zuko realized he couldn't use his fire, Zuko, Aang, and Shai traveled to the Sun Warriors. There, Zuko and Aang discovered that Shai was the daughter of the Chief. The Chief saw that his daughter was better, and had taken control of her dragon. He asked Shai to stay with them again, but Shai refused. She had told her father that she was starting to fall for Zuko, and that she couldn't be kept away from him. The Chief was saddened by this news, but knew his daughter was making the right decision. Later, after Aang defeated the fire lord, Shai discovered that Zuko was dating Mai. She was distraught, but knew she couldn't interfere. However, Mai had broken up with Zuko. After a little while, Shai told Zuko that she had loved him for a long time. Zuko also told her he was in love with her. After about a year of being together, they had gotten married. They had a daughter. 

Though Shai had tried her hardest to control her spirit animal, there had been times where she lost control and almost killed her friends.
